Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

   Artemis Fowl

I recently finished Artemis Fowl, a book about a 12-year old millionaire who seeks to find out the ancient race known as Fairies. He Manages to capture a LEPrecon(Lower Elements Police Reconnoissance) Officer, Holly short.Holly Is a Elf-Fairy who was the first female to join the LEP.At the beginning of the story, Holly is in conversation with LEPrecon Commander, Julius Root.In the middle of the conversation an officer calls in Reporting a rogue Bull Troll.the commander assigns Holly to the task of neutralizing the troll before it was spotted by humans.Holly fails and the troll injures her, as she had not done "The Ritual" to replenish her magic.A Retrieval team came and took care of the situation while commander Julius Orders Holly to do the Ritual by the next few nights.
Artemis and his loyal bodyguard Domovoi Butler are ready at the Ritual site with a Neutralizing
Rifle. They shoot and capture the unshielded Fairy.Artemis hopes to bargain with the Fairies to get some of their fairy gold.

I felt that the most of the main elements of a Science Fiction-Action were present.I felt that there was a good level of intensity and action.Artemis must make decisions fast and so must the fairies. The book shows that kind of Blind attack feel as both sides have a secret plan. The book was a little too fast though so that kind of makes it hard to follow for some readers.

Rating:           Reader Type:          Age of Intrest:
4/5              Sci-fi/action lover           9-16
