The Book of Time book review by Ilya
I red this book by Guillaume Prevost, named "The Book of Time". It is about the boy who lives with his grandparents because his mother left him and his dad, and his dad is missing. He is curios of where his dad is. He decided to start looking in his fathers book shop. When he found his dad's clothes and tooth brush in the closet he decided that his dad couldn't leave and leave his cloths. By accident he found a secret door which le to a room with only one thing a stone statue. When he puts a coin in the middle it brings him back in time! And his troubles began...My favourite part of this book is when he is in the time of first world war running away from German and French soldiers in the same time!
I recommend this book to people who like fantasy and mistory.

Shiver By: Maggie Stiefvater
Shiver is a book I recently finished. This book was recommended to me from Taeyeon, my good friend. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have read it. She BEGGED me to read it, so I tried it. I was AWESOME!!! The book is about a werewolf, Sam falling in love with Grace, or Grace falling in love with Sam. Grace: A humanish werewolfish girl,(?) she was supposed to become a wolf, after she has been bitten, but somehow she didn't turn into one. So, werewolves turn into wolves when it's cold, and when it's warm, they turn into human.
When they first met, Sam was shot by one of the wolf killers. Grace, fortunately bought him to the hospital, and he was safely cured. Problems happen, a lot of people turn into werewolves, werewolves turning into people, people having not a single clue what the wolves are doing. And Sam has to be careful, because the weather is very cold outside. I am not good at explaining things... But, you really HAVE to read it. This is mostly for fantasy, romance, wolf, and mystery lovers.
Here are some questions you might have:
1. Will Sam, and Grace be happily ever after?
2. What kind of problems are there in the story?
3. What happens next?
4. How was Grace cured/ will Grace turn into a wolf?
5. Should I read this book?
6. Why/how is this book so AWESOME?
Rating:
5/5 THIS IS AN AWESOME BOOK!! YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!! I hope you enjoy this book if you read it, and thank you, Taeyeon, for recommending this book to me. :)
It was AWESOME!!!

James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
Currently I am reading a book called James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. As you know this book is popular so I got recommended by my friend. I chose this book because I began to read and it was so interesting and it was also exiting time to go to the next page. When I shortly summarize the story, it begins with a boy named James who lived in the south of England peacefully. When both of parents went shopping to New York James whole life has been turned upside down. Both of the parents had eaten up by escaped rhinoceros. After the death of James's parents Jame tuned in to 2 ugly aunt. He had be slave(In that time slave system abolition but looks like slave...) of two mean women. One day magical grandpa gave magical crocodile tongue but James spill that thing and that tongue got in to one giant peach that was only one at peach tree. James was tired of being like a slave he decided to get some peaches. He took out a big piece of peach and ate and suddenly he noticed the path and get into it. This is the start of interesting adventure with giant insects. Finally at the end James and the giant insects friend arrive at New York City. James become very fame and this is the story. This book is fantasy and fiction. I will rate this book 5 out of 5 and I recommend to everybody who didn't read. This book has special power of altering peoples mind to read. Nobody can endure this power.(It looks like I am joking but I am serious) I think James has same disadvantages as Mr.Fox has.(Mr.Fox by Roald Dahl.)
Mr.Fox had hard life because of three greedy men. During
reading, I thought James and Mr.Fox was dirt poor.

The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke
The Thief Lord
by Cornelia Funke
Prosper and Bo are brothers who have been recently orphaned and are living with their grandfather. Their aunt now plans to take Bo away to live with her. Prosper can't let go of his little brother and decides to run away with him so they are not separated. They go to Venice, where they think everything will be magical like their mom told them. However, it is not what Prosper expected and as winter sets in and they are hungry and desperate, they meet Hornet who takes them to the Thief Lord, the most notorious thief in Venice- and he's only 12 years old! Scipio, a.k.a The Thief Lord, helps a gang of children steal from wealthy houses. Bo and Prosper join him and they all help them to escape the notice of a detective named Victor Getz who has been hired by the aunt to find them. What will happen when Scipio accepts an offer from a mysterious Duke to make a ton of money? Read it and find out!
This fantasy/adventure is set in the city of Venice which is one of the reasons I picked it up to read. I had just visited Venice and had heard about this book from a student. I quite enjoyed the adventure aspect and could visualize the scenes very well as I had been to the city itself and walked along the canals and down dark alleys.
In 2006 this novel was made into a movie. Unfortunately, I have not seen it, but I did find this movie trailer which might interest the class.
We have a copy in our classroom library of this book and I am sure you will also find it in the MS library.
If you like adventure within a city, this might be "right up your alley"!

The Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
The Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian
This book is about a demigod, half god and half human, who tries to save the world with their friends. Percy Jackson is the main character of the story who is the son of the Poseidon. He was just normal like us until the myths became true. Son of the Hades, daughter of the Athena and Zeus also with their demigod friends, they are trying to stop Kronos from invading the real world that we can see right now. But they need the help of the gods to stop Kronos...
I picked this book because I have read books about the gods like Poseidon. So I understood most of the story maybe because I know the reason why the big three brothers doesn't like their father. So I think the readers who like the story of the Roman and Greek religion might enjoy this book. Also this story is based on the living in United States so you can compare the life they are having, different than us. But the demigods are also humans so they are talking and acting like us.
I really enjoyed this story so I give ---5 STARS--- for this book. I think everyone will love this book so please read them!

This book is about a young girl, Winnie who gets to know a secret from the Tuck's family. The important secret is that the Tuck family is living forever by drinking a special drink in the woods that anyone can drink if they find the tree where the water is to live forever. But then Winnie must decide whether or not to keep of the Tuck's family and whether or not to join them on their never ending journey.

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe 1
This book is called The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and the author is C. S. Lewis. I choose this book because it was exciting and the author made me wanted to read more in the beginning. The book is about 2 boys which they call son's of Adam and 2 girls named after the Daughters of Eve.
Those kids were in England and there was a war of bombing and the day after that the mother send the kids to the train station and send them to the south of England. When they arrived they got send in a house were there's a professor which is very rich. In that house they find something (Surprise) that leads them to a magical world. There they find out that the people need there help to defeat the White witch which is called after the queen of Narnia.
They go to the real king of Narnia and there prepare troops to battle the White witch and then make the four kids king's and Queen's. The cool thing is that they can stay as long as they want in that world and then when they come back to the real world they are the same age than when they came in so it's like nothing changed. I really enjoyed the book and I will be reading number 1 2 3 and so on. I would recommend this book to anybody who has not read it yet because the book has a lot of adventure and fantasy in it.
A lot of people love fantasy and adventure books and this book has both which makes this book fun. There is also a movie and when I watched the movie there were some parts I did not understand and now after I have read the book I understood almost all the parts I did not understand. After watching the movie again I understood everything. I think that sometimes it's good to go back and re-read parts we did not understand.
If I would rate this book I would rate this a 5 stars because I really enjoyed this book and hope you tried it.
