Raven’s Gate by Anthony Horowitz

Raven’s Gate is the first book in the series The Power of Five.  The book is about boy named Matthew Freeman (or Matt as he calls himself) who lost his parents. He gets caught by the police when he breaks into a warehouse, and is sent to a village as part of the LEAF project organized by the government. It’s only a matter of time before he realizes something is wrong with the village. Also, who are the old ones? And what do they have to do with the Ravens Gate?

This is an great mystery book, with stranger things happening as you finish each chapter. Also, it has a bit of horror, but is a great book for action readers who like supernatural occurrences!

I give it 5 stars! I would recommend this to people who like action and mystery!
(Also, I would say that that this book involves death, so if you don't like death, don't read this!)

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

This book is about a boy named Hugo.His father died and after his uncle adopted him.Soon after Hugo's uncle adopted him he left.So now he lives alone in a train station.Hugo is used to stealing.Before his father died he gave Hugo a mechanical man.Hugo steals from a man who owns a toy shop.Everyday Hugo steals from him.One day he gets caught.All Hugo wanted to do is to fix the mechanical man.Will he be able to fix the mechanical man without his father’s help?Read to see what happens next.

This is a good book because it keeps you wanting to read more.It is also very breathtaking book.I think this a great book because it not only talks about whats happening now but what happened in the past.

I would recommend this book to mystery and thriller lovers.

I would give it a ⅘ stars.

This book would be great for 10-12 years old.

My brother Sam is dead by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier

This book is about the family who lived in the timeline of chaotic situation, when the American revolutionary war happened. The father is the loyalist (British side) and brother, (narrator’s brother) Sam is patriot. Sam decided to fight against the British army, but massive British army is closing by to the Patriots. Can Sam’s family be safe? I hope so!

I liked this book, mostly, but I think this book can be boring for normal kids because, you cannot fully understand this book unless you have a background knowledge about history. But, I think historians and American patriot will like it.

I’ll give ⅘ stars because, some part of this book is boring and sometimes, story isn't smooth

I recommend this book to the historians and American patriots,

but I won’t recommend this book to the British kids because, in this book, the author described British army as a marauders, different from the real history.

(British army had a strict rules.)

Tiny Turtle Wants a Friend by Shilpa Ranade

   

My Summary: The book is about a tiny turtle who wants a friend and goes inside the sea.

The House of Hades by Rick Riordan

My Summary:

The House of Hades is in a series called Heros of olympus, it is the 4th book of the series and it is about 6 demigods and one satyr and two of their friends, Percy and Annabeth, who are in tartarus, the place where monsters are born, are heading to the doors of deaths, which allows monsters to go to the mortal world,  to close it. If they don't make it than the world will be invaded by giants who will keep re-spawning and the world will end.
My Opinion and reasons: I really like this book because because it is the one with the most action and suspense for me and there are a lot of fun surprises. My Rating/Recommendation: I recommend this book to people who like fantasy and Greek mythology and action and surprises.

The Secret Garden By Frances Hodgson Burnett

My Summary: The book is about a little girl who was born in India but she is actually American. Her parents died by a very severe flu and now she stays in a orphanage. On a bright sunny day she saw a door a door that was so magical and so real she thought to herself  should I go in? Read to know more.

My Opinion and reasons: I think this book was extremely good book because It looks interesting from even the cover. and also I think That it is a good book because it can improve my reading level it is an very challenging book for me.

My Rating/Recommendation: I recommend this book for mystery lovers and visualizers you can visualize a lot of thoughts in this book. I give this book 5/5 stars. And people who like friendship.

Big Hero 6 by RH Disney

My Summary:

This book is looks like Japanese book but written by English and some words translate by Japanese. This book is about 6 heros try to Find out mystery of the accident that Tadashi died.

The stage of the story is fictional city called "San Fransokyo" that mixed Tokyo and San Francisco. Main character is Hiro Hamada.

Hiro and Tadashi are very clever and they have talent of genius scientific.

Hiro and Tadashi lives in the apartment above the restaurant "Lucky Cat Cafe" for management of Cass Aunt, because when Hiro was Young age, his parents are dead.

After that, he lost a beloved brother Tadashi by the mystery of the accident. He would shut the mind. .

Suddenly robot called "Baymax" appeared. It was a care robot that made by deceased brother. Baymax cared about hiro and hiro get back the cheerfulness.

then He try to Find out mystery of the accident with Tadashi's friends and Baymax.

Can they solve truth of mystery accident and mask man! ? Can he find surprising "real mission" that Deceased brother was entrusted to Baymax !?

My Opinion and reasons:

I think this book is good for Japanese people who studies english, because some words translate by Japanese, and it also included Storytelling CD.

My favorite parts is when Hiro saw video of test that Tadashi try to create Baymax and Hiro said” thank you, Baymax”.  

My Rating/Recommendation:

I recommend this book for who likes sad  impressive story, because in this story, many character are dead and they create many friendships. This story is about friendship, so it is great to read by students! I give this book 4/5  Stars!

The Quest for Paradise by Geronimo Stilton

My Summary:

This story is about the Heart-Finders Club who will be find the Heart of Happiness. But the queen of the witch want the Heart of Happiness because she doesn't want have Happiness in the world. So, she capture the club, so they will can't find the Heart. Then, the club succeed to go, but a long adventure will continue.

My Opinion and reasons:

I enjoyed reading this story because when you read this story the night, you do good dreams. The character I liked most is Geronimo Stilton because is almost funny and he’s the hero of all the story. My favorite part is when they are on the Land of Sweet and on the Land of Toys.

My Rating/Recommendation:

I recommend this book to the students who likes fantasy because there is a lot of fantasy in this book.

Lulu by Kyla May

My Summary: This is a diary of a girl called Lulu. She loves to plan her future, and she has a cat called Bosco, who thinks he is a dog. My Opinion and reasons: I think this is very good book because it has a happy ending and it is a funny book.

My Rating/Recommendation: I recommend this book to people who is level J to L and who likes fashion, cooking, and friendship.

I give this book 5 /5 stars because I can understand very clearly and it is little funny.

The Cat Show Mystery by Bob Wright

My Summary:Carlos and his friends went to a cat show.

A doctor promised to go cat show but, he didn’t came.

Carlos and his friends find out where doctor is. And they find terrible event.

My Opinion and reasons:I think this book is good.

Because, i like mystery genre. This book has more

detail contents than before that i read books.

So, i could learn more English from this book.

My Rating/Recommendation:I recommend to someone like the mystery genre book. I rate this book 4/5 stars.

The 39 Clues- Cahill Vs. Vespers- Shatterproof by Roland Smith

Vesper One kidnapped people from Dan and Amy’s family. To get them back, Amy and Dan need to steal thing’s that Vesper one wanted. If they are too late or don’t do it, one family member would be killed. This time, they needed to find a diamond in Germany. This time, the Rosenbloom brother would help them. This is the fourth book of the series the 39 clues, Cahill vs. Vespers.

I think this a very good book because it’s very interesting and you never know what would happen. Also, there is a lot of mysteries. This is an unpredictable book full of mysteries.

I recommend this book to people who like mysteries and reading because it’s a very long series of book. I give this book 4 out of 5 because it’s a very good book but their is other books in the series that are better.

Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan

This story is about the Mexican girl named Esperanza who is living a wealthy life. She has her loving parents, a big house and a garden. But Mexican revolution broke out and her father is killed by the riots. Suddenly, her uncle take away her family’s wealth and money and her house was burned by the mysterious fire. So, Esperanza and her mother moved to California. Can Esperanza go back to her home country?

I think this book is pretty good because, it’s a book of mystery and history. If it was just a book about history, it must have been very boring, but by adding the mysterious cases and clues, the author Pam Munoz Ryan made a great historic novel.

I think I can give 4 out of 5 stars because even though it was a good book, but some parts were boring because of appearance of various characters and many turning points and event. I recommend this book to the historians in our grade or the mystery readers because, this book is a historical fiction, based on real history but, formed with a mystery trail.

Wonder by R.J Palacio

My Summary: august pullman is not an ordinary kid. he does ordinary things. he eats ice cream. he plays games. but, he is not normal. Born with a terrible face, he has been homeschooled his whole life. now he’s going to a real school, and he’s dreading it. can he convince his new classmates that he’s  just like them under it all?

My Opinion and reasons:

This is a great book with a strong message: always believe in yourself. One reason is he is a kid with an ugly face and people think he is a monster. Then he proves to them that he is not a monster and has normal feelings just like everyone else. There is also a message to others; remember that everyone has feelings.

My Rating/Recommendation: 6 out of 5 s: because it goes a lot deep into auggie’s life, and it  goes deep into lives he touches forever.

Diary of a wimpy kid Dog Days by Jeff Kinney

   


In this book there is one boy called Greg and this story is about Greg’s summer break time.At summer break he decide to play the videogame with curtains close and light off ,but at that time her mother decide to do a book club.Will he able to play video game?

When I read this book I want to compare his summer break time with my summer break time.Because it is really fun to find common things with the  book.

I recommend this book to people who like to have laugh and get addicted to the series of books.I give this book 3 out of 5.

Summer of the sea serpent by Mary pope Osborne

My Summary:

This book is about Annie and Jack who get a massage from magic tree house owner, and they started to solve the problem. Their goal is to find the sword. They found the sword but they met a very big sea serpent. They solve the problem and came back.

My Opinion and reasons:I think this book is very good book because Jack and Annie solve their problem very well. We can do visualizing easily.  

My Rating/Recommendation: I recommend this book for adventure lovers because this book is about adventure and this book is not boring and it’s very exciting.

My Opinion and reasons:my opinion is that I think it will be good if Link is in himself and meet variety of partners and enemy because it feels weird when people is divided into 4 parts.

My Rating/Recommendation:I rate this book as 100/100. I recommend this book to people who like short fantasy.

I rated this as 100/100 because it was kind of funny.

My Summary:

This story is about fly detective. One scorpion name Sammy who has came to his office and he said he want to be assistant for Joey fly. They get request from Delilah who is butterfly. She want to find diamond pencil case. They have ask many people. But the criminal were surprising. If you want to find that criminal read it!

My Opinion and reasons:

The character which I like is Sammy because he is so funny.

I give this book 5 out of 1 stars because it was funny and weird. I will not recommend this book that much but if you want to read it!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Last Straw By.Jeff Kinney

This is a diary about Greg. He writes about his daily life. He has a friend called Rowley. At Halloween Greg and Rowley have vexed some of the older brothers. One day the Greg and Rowley had met them. The older brothers were going to give punishment to Greg and Rowley. Near them was a rotten cheese. A tall brother (part of the older brother) saw the rotten cheese. Then the brothers smiled. What will going to happen? Read to find out!

The reason that I want this book to be shared is because I think that this book will be funny for all. It can be a good example for a diary.

I recommend this book to the realistic Fiction lovers because this is a book about a real person that writes a diary. Also try it for fun and challenge it! I will give ★★★★☆ four stars for this book.

That is because her parents really want that their kids to be genius. One day, she ruined the test on purpose. Of course her parents were really angry to her. But, it was all plan. So, she strongly argued. What would happen next? Read the book.

My Opinion and reasons:

My opinion of this reading is that this reading is really adorable because when I read it, I could get a hope that the “REPORT CARD” doesn’t really change our life. If I was Nora, I tried hard to get a better report card than last time, but I like the behavior that Nora did.

My Rating/Recommendation:

I will give this book ★★★★☆ stars because Nora changed the prejudice. She meant the report is not a life. Also she gave me courage. Of course I will work hard on my study, but if I ruined my test, I will not that sad. (maybe..)  

Iqbal by Francesco D' Adamo

    This books is about child labourers in Pakistan with a debt that never seems to be paid. More than anything else, they want freedom, but are too afraid of their master to admit it. The story is told through the eyes of Fatima and the one boy that would change their lives forever.... 
 I thought that this book is very interesting, and is written in a way that makes you feel as if you are actually inside the world of Iqbal. I would recommend this book to people that love suspense and believers in human rights. I rate this book a 4.5/5
